this fishing one is still ok... nuttin much to comment...

however this one is too general, a van or a truck oso has a steering wheel, so its not very accurate to some extend...

as for this, it does mean when u see sh^__^t u see a toilet... so not very accurate as well...

Wat we were supposed to do was to go out and draw a scene which tells a different story as wat the others might see it to be... i drew this, and was slap flat down onto the ground... oh well, 'cos i did not see this scene, i "saw" this scene... in my imagination that is... haha...

anyway this guy is hidding behind the pillar, people may think he is looking at the bird but he's not, he's looking at the flower cos V-day is approach and he had lost all his money on soccer betting... =X --FAIL--

NO!! he's not... he's just passing by and saw the posters on the vending machine and so stopped to read... he's no digging for coins by the way, he's reaching for his vibrating and ringing handphone... =D this time can passed right? haha...

Some of the classrm assignments that i did... we were suppposed to draw something to represent a word using just lines and shapes... so.......

well i feel that being adorable is abit of a round and bubbly... so i did this...

well this was supposed to be "intense" but it seems more like "depressed"... haha so i did some changes to it...

this is the final "intense"... was thinking when someone feel tensed up he/she will be stiff and thus explains my striaght and zig-zag lines...

Final Decision... We killed our Fly story and start on a new one... Our story is now "Timmy and The Blue Beanie"... haha... this book sure gave us a whole lot of SH^__^T... DA^__^N... <-- Closure... haha... anyway the whole group put in a HE^__^LL lot of effort for this...

Ok... this is the good poster that i have chosen... details are in the ppt slides but i'll just talk abt it briefly...

talking about unity, if u cover the "40 days and 40 nights" you will realise that the whole poster is blue... this shows the use of unity in color.

this brings me to my next point, the words actually form a contrast with the rest of the color blue, which makes the title very outstanding.

although the poster looks heavier at the right side(cos of the "pillar") its actually balance 'cos the pillar extends all the way to the bottom and hence stabalizes the poster from "tripping over". in addition, the main lead's facial expression on the left managed to balance out the pillar as well.

attention is kept within the poster as well. the first view will be on the title, which brings the viewer down the "pillar" and viewer will goes "wow" and then move along the main lead to his face. now the main lead is looking upwards and the viewer will follow his gave and see the small print and realise "oh... no sex!"

in color wise, complementary of blue and orange is used. the word "40" is in orange, which is the most attention seeking color. it also represent sadness and melancholy and i'm sure we all know why... =X the other "40" is in dark brown and it symbolizes strength, solidity and maturity. and of 'cos we know why he NEEDED strength... =D

talking about the gastalt principles, there is a good figure and ground usage. the background is white and made good use of the negatie spaces. there are also very good spacing between each chunk of information. last but not least, there is a flow of continuity from the top to the bottom via the "pillar".

as for the bad poster, my parnter Sham chose this...

the background is too complex, grabbing attention from the foreground words. the whole poster is also very flat such that no elements jump out of it from one look. poor usage of contrast is also used for the words and background, it takes much effort to be able to view the words...
talking about gastalt principle, there are too much information and poor use of chunking of information. there is no similarity, no continuity and no closure. however we'll have to give it some credit for the proximity of the words which makes it readable, with some effort...

its too messy that viewer may just ignore it...

Ok this is the modified version of my card... i reduced the stars, reduced the reflections in the the bottom part, changed the fonts and add a back page to the card. did a little cupid sitting on the barcode since it's from the cupid greetings ptd ltd...

well if u noticed, this card has 3 parts, so the folding will be a bit special as well, different from the typical cards... i've chosen pink to be back of the card as well as the clothes of the little cupid because this pink symbolised love and truth. the little cupid is also wearing pink

Actually wasn't sure of how i can improve my card, but thanks to Pegan, i came up with this folding technique... first of all the reflection is lyng on the ground and hence gives the "reflection on the ground" effect... the back helps the card to actually stand properly... wooh...

So how? managed to guess the story? Hint: the train is not a train and the people are not people...

give up? haha ok now think of the train as ya stomach! when ya "stomach" is empty, u needa eat! then "food" will go into ya stomach and ya stomach will get crowded eventually... then u will get a "stomach" upset and so u'll have to go release some burden... when u do this, things will move out of ya "stomach" and u will feel relief... and then, ya "stomach" will be empty again...

[comments for first draft: very abstract, maybe can try to make the train scenes less obvious since they're just "descriptive pictures"... blur the edges of the train... take away the last 2 pictures and throw in the first one again as the last one, so it'll look like a cycle...]

So.......... i edited the picture a bit to improve on it...

Well there wasn't enough time for me to try out my new poster, so this is what i can do...

added a "border" of technologies and gadgets that people are attached to. this will help keep the viewer's attention within the border. changed the fonts abit to look abit mechanical like toys...

the idea for this is that viewers will first see either the words or the toys, from the words view can go down the border to the small prints then to the toys and up the drip, or go down the drip to the toy the up the border to see the small prints then complete the circle...

faded the web to reduce attention as well...

struggled very long over this... couldn't settle the color combinations... i design it in such a way that it brings out what most guys thought... "sometimes i do not show it, but deep within, you know i love you!" the top part is smaller cos i wan focus ont he bottom, and the top they are standing apart, but the bottom the are kissing... ...and censored(not on purpose) and the moon becomes a heart.... sweet?

[coments: moon too bright, too many stars, fonts not clear, too much reflection, appropreiate folding can be used to bring out the card]

i couldn't make up my mind for the first card. then when i woke up at 9:30am on tutorial day, i suddenly had this idea to make flowers n butterfly. dunno y. so i gave it a try. the flowers are actually sakura(cherry blossom) and represent autumn, which i feel is a more romantic period. made up the so-called "poem" as well... haha...

[comment: the colors are too similar, like milk shake blended together, words color change to maybe white, colors too dark]

guess there's alot more to do... haha...

had a new idea for the poster... same theme "save childhood buddies", but change the pic to a single wounded bear... more simple, straight to point... hope can make it better... =)

another idea is change to "save the dreams"... its mostly abt paper chase now so i thought kids shld be given the freedom to dream... stop the paper chase!!

SAVE YOUR CHILDHOOD BUDDIES!!!

got this idea when i saw my collection of "toys", haha models to be exact... well nowadays kids play with PSP, PS2, online games and stuffs, so where will all these toys go to? what a sad ending... lets work together to save them!!! but i was tied down by my computing and just spent about 4 hours on this and couldn't really focus on it. it turned out quite pathetic actually and i'm not very satisfied with it. sad...
[comments: toys too small, header too small, font not conveying message, web too big became main focus. add lines to make the picture look 3D at a room corner, hang toys on web, change font type]

guess i'll have alot to do this timr round... need alot of improvement man...

well i did some adjustments for my angels and this shld be more or less the final product... halo remains same size for 2~3, head same size, eyes same size, girl to girl instead of girl to boy, as for from 4 onwards, i took out all the details of the wings...

Assignment 2... choosing an object and creating its indexic picture. I've chosen "Angel" here 'cos it's sort of a imaginary figure so i can draw it in whatever way i wan? haha... so here goes...this was what i had for my presentation.

for this, i basically re-do everything. i redrew my ultraman and monsters with brush-like outlines and add in highlights. however one problem, from one look its quite hard to tell its "kayv" eh? so i tried something funny......

this was the something "funny"... but it kinda screwed the picture... bad...

din do much to this. only edited the outlines to make it look more brush-like and add in highlights so that the pic wun look too monotone...

Erm... i couldn't post this together with the previous post cos i keep getting errors dunno why... too long it states... @#$%^&^%$... anyways i'm still at the first tutorial here...

<< well i thought that by creating my own characters, they shld still be considered as cartoon characters right? so came my monkeys!! i like this one 'cos the colors are light and clean. gives a peaceful feel. not much comments from class.

pts to change: someone pointed out that the monkey's tail in the 'A' shld point left so it looks more like an 'A'.

<< ultraman is also a cartoon character right? but it makes this picture looks more like "i love ultraman"... oh well... i know the colors are really @#$%^&^%$# but i'm real bad with colors... haha... what i like about this is that i created a sort of interactions between each alphabet and make it more like a scene instead of individual characters.

pts to change: the class pointed out that the colors are @#$%^@#$%... haha yah i know... gonna work on it...

First tutorial we were supposed to present of drawings of our loves and hates. however i din know if our sketches are to be in digital or print so i did it in digital format. and also, we were supposed to choose one design from each word and work on it but i couldn't really make up my mind so i did 2 designs from each word instead... here goes...

<< nutting special about this, but the characters looks quite nice i though... but from here due to the resolutions error that i made it looks quite messy...
